An emerging writer in general fiction, Nicole’s novels explore familial relationships, love and isolation, personal evolution, power and prejudice, and chance encounters in rich locations that give rise to mysterious twists and turns. Nicole’s characters have strong voices that offer new perspectives to life and history through fiction, with the full gamut of gun-punch and joy.
Nicole was born in Western Australia and has lived life, including over twenty years in Canberra, which she now calls home. She has a deep pride and gratitude in the role of the nation’s capital and the Australian Public Service, but is not blind to the fact that outside of Canberra and political parties, well, most people don’t give a toss!
Through the Australian Writers’ Centre, Nicole has been focused on removing bureacratese from her writing to entertain, rather than analyse. Writing that draws you in, rather than sending you to sleep.
Nicole has a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in History, and a Masters of Regional Development, both from the University of Western Australia. She has studied regulatory reform at the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Nicole is a regular attendee at ‘Write In Wednesdays’ at random sites around Canberra, to provide dedicated time and camaraderie for whatever writing task Canberra authors are tackling. She is a member of the Canberra Writer’s Group, and MARION, the ACT Writers’ Association, and the Australian Association of Authors.
Nicole’s long-form works in progress include In Plain Sight, Little Sparrow, and Summer of Steve. Nicole is married with teenage children, a border collie, chickens, and random numbers of koi, all of whom have helped inspire the local Mount Rogers Mystery Series for middle graders. She is a member of the Canberra Writer’s Group, and MARION, the ACT Writers’ Association, and the Australian Association of Authors.
